Questioning what makes art valuable

What is it that makes art valuable is it just the touch of the hand to a canvas? Is it the sure idea of the artwork? Or is there a deeper meaning to the sales of particular artworks? This video examines just that the reasons behind why certain artwork gets sold at high prices.

Family migration

Just submitted this image for my class assignment which
displays how my heritage originates from Germany. My great great grandparents were distillers of German beer. Their children then settled into America after selling German beer via ship and meeting an American born lady also known as my great grandmother Simpkins on my mother's side. I chose to do this image as a photograph and as a painting (which unfortunately is not done yet) Because my Dad's side of the family were painters from Poland as well as photographers for the polish newspaper. They settled into America for lack of jobs and once again found their perspective mates.

Just getting Started

Hello fellow bloggers I am Melissa Hearon and trying to become an art educator currently attending at the University of Florida for my Master's degree. This blog is being setup for my Globalization course and will be keeping tabs on what I have been learning throughout. So, far I have realized that to keep globally active one needs to be socially connected either through the internet or face to face contact or even through the media interruptions of other places or people. This blog is also going to be connected to my website as well at http://artsmylife.wix.com/melissa-hearon-art
